Dino's Certificate Scandal: NANS Frowns Against ABU-VC Summoning

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has frowned against the summoning of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibrahim Garba by the Nigerian Senate over the certificate scandal allegation levelled against Sen. Dino Melaye. According to media reports, The Senate has summoned the Vice Chancellor of the aforementioned citadel of learning to appear before it Monday March 27, 2017 and explain his own side of the story. Recall that Senator Dino (APC-Kogi West), has been embroiled in a certificate scandal after reports from Sahara Reporters indicated that although he attended ABU, but he did not graduate. Reacting to the summon, the apex students condemns it in totality, calling on the Senate to “be responsible enough to give us dividends of democracy”. “NANS frowns against the summoning of Prof. Ibrahim Garba, the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (ABU). Rather than summoning the Vice-Chancellor, why not Dino Melaye provides his certificate and Senate takes it to the university for verification,” the President of NANS, Comr. Aruna Kadiri stated. With this development, Kadiri explained that “it therefore means if 200 graduands have issue with certificate, the banks, ministries, multinationals and even a married man that doubts the authenticity of his wife's certificate will also summon the Vice-Chancellor to his house for questioning”. The NANS President who frowned at the summon describing it “frivolities” noted that the country was enmeshed in enough economic troubles and needed to focus on remedies. “The Nigerian Senate should be responsible enough to give us dividends of democracy. We say no to the summoning of the Vice-Chancellor for frivolities,” he added. Akolo Raymond Eggon SSA on Media To The NANS President Monday March 27, 2017
