Recession: APC should apologise for deceiving Nigerians – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Tuesday, asked the leadership of the All Progressive Congress, APC, to apologise for deceiving Nigerians and the world at large with its change mantra. The party said the admission of the APC over the current hardship in the nation has vindicated the PDP position that the ruling party was clueless and has no solution to the country's problems. In a statement in Abuja, the Spokesman of the Party, Prince Dayo Adeyeye said the APC should stop blaming the PDP for the problems it created. According to Adeyeye, "the open acceptance of responsibility regarding the economic misfortune caused by the All Progressive Congress (APC) led Federal Government has once again, vindicated our earlier position that the Buhari Administration is clueless and lack focus in providing governance to Nigerians". It will be recalled that Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State told state house correspondents in Abuja on Monday that the APC must take responsibility for the economic downturn turn in the country. "We must take responsibility and we must never shift the responsibility to anybody. We are responsible for everything happening in Nigeria. The good, the bad, the ugly but we are promising Nigerians that we shall fix it", Okorocha had said. Reacting to Okorocha's submission, Adeyeye said, "this declaration coming after several months of bulk-passing and shifting responsibilities to previous Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Administration has shown that the APC Government has no solution to all the myriad of problems they created since assuming office in May 2015."

Fulani herdsmen disguised as Army attack village in Kaduna, kill 85-yr-old man, 6 others

n chiefdom in Jema'a local government, Kaduna state, killing an 85-year-old traditional ruler and six others yesterday, Friday. "On this day, 27th October, 2016 a group of men in army uniforms came to Ungwar Misisi Village and called the Village Head, Mr. John Zogo and the elders of the village for what they claimed to be security briefing on the situation in the area. "As soon as the soldiers came and started discussing with the Village Head and the elders, our people heard gun shots in the outskirts of the village and these same soldiers then shot and killed the Village Head and some others in the house of the Village Head and fled," Leadership quoted an eyewitness as saying. The National Caretaker Chairman of the Koninkon nationality Waje Goska Williams said the attackers fled immediately after killing the traditional ruler. "The whole village was burnt down and those who managed to escape are now internally displaced persons. "Those that were killed in the attacks are John Zogo – 85 years (The Village Head), Yakubu Abuja (80), Adamu Bulus – 30 years, Majhe Audu – 50 years, Karu Amos – 42 years, Confidence Kibadu – 29 years and Kurma Amos – 44 years," he said. He recalled that "this attack is clearly preplanned and there seems to be a clear conspiracy on the party of the Government and Security agents to look the other way while the killings and destructions are going on. It is clearly a plan of genocide against the Kaninkon people. "We have no defence even from the Federal and Kaduna State Governments who have made security a top priority on its agenda." He added: "We, the entire Kaninkon people in Kaninkon Chiefdom, are under unprovoked and sustained attacks by the people whoare not known but who are working closely with the local Fulani people that we have lived with for many years. "The motive of the attacks is clearly unknown but we can see that it is a genocidal mission. We are particularly worried because there seems to be a conspiracy of silence and complacency on the part of the Security Agencies and the Kaduna State and Federal Governments on the plight of our people. "While these attacks are going on, we do not observe the presence of security men in the area giving protection to our people since we are not at war with anybody. "The weapons of death used by the assailants are so sophisticated that we suspect these people to be Boko Haram that are on mission to clear our people. The professionalism employed by the attackers is such that only trained people who have the backing and aid of some people in Government and the security forces. "Kaninkon Chiefdom is one of the ethnic groups in Southern Kaduna and the entire northern Nigeria that was not conquered by the Fulani Jihad of the early Nineteenth century. These attacks are clearly an attempt at achieving what they did not achieve by the Jihad." Meanwhile, the Nigerian military has warned Fulani herdsmen that they are next on the agenda following the sound defeat of the Boko Haram insurgents. Spokesman of the Defens headquarters made this revelation on Friday also in Kaduna, noting that the military has begun putting plans in place to ensure that the herdsmen's menace is ended.

Under the Islamic tradition a man is allowed to marry up to four wives, but that doesn’t seem to concern onr of the senior wives, Gimba Aishatu. For the second time in less than a week, Nigerian pop star, Wizkid has been crowned the best artiste in Africa after he won the award of Best African Act at the Pre-Mobo awards that was held in London last night. Dj Cuppy on her page announced that she was given the honour of presenting the award but it looked like Wizkid who edged out close competition from, Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade and two of his new signees, Mr Eazi and Eyfa was not on hand to receive the award. Militants Surrender Their Weapons In Rivers State, Nigerians React.PICS

Yesterday, some militants in Rivers state "black zone", Gokana Local Government Area, surrendered their "sophisticated" weapons, charms and other items to the Amnesty committee -in an event graced by different security agencies. Now mixed feelings have trailed this act -considering the type of weapons that were recovered from the militants, knowing how dangerous the region is. According to reports, Gokana LGA has been the bloodiest in the past one year -recording series of assassinations and politically motivated killings. Dr Vyncent Eebee, a lecturer with the Rivers State Polytechnic and a chieftain of APC was gunned down by a gang of dare-devil gunmen in that area and some other APC chieftains. President Buhari's Daughter, Fatima, Weds Today

Fatima Buhari, the President's second daughter will marry Mallam Gimba Kumo today, October 28th 2016. The wedding will take place at the President's home in Maiaduwa GRA, Katsina state, and starts at 2pm after Jumaát prayers. Fatima is the President's second daughter from his late former wife, and the groom, who turns 57 later this year, was once the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria. For Freezing My $15M, EFCC Should Pay Me Extra $200M - Patience Jonathan

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday fixed December 7 to hear a suit by ex-First Lady, Patience Jonathan, against the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, seeking to unfreeze her account. Apart from the EFCC, other respondents are Skye Bank and a former Special Assistant to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Waripama-Owei Dudafa. Also joined in the suit are Pluto Property and Investment company Ltd, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Ltd, Transocean Property and Investment Company Ltd and Globus Integrated Service Ltd. The ex-first lady is demanding $200 million from the commission as damages for infringing on her rights. She is also urging the court to issue an order discharging the freezing order and restraining the EFCC and its agent from further placing a freezing order on the said accounts. When the case was called on Wednesday, Rotimi Oyedepo, announced appearance for the EFCC, while Granville Abibo appeared for Mrs. Jonathan. Addressing the court, Mr. Oyedepo informed the judge that the case was coming up for the first time, adding that some of the respondents had yet to be served with the court’s processes. He said the case was not yet “ripe for hearing”, having been served with the processes on October 19 and is yet to file a response. His submission was, however, not contested by counsel to the plaintiff. Consequently, Justice Babs Kuewumi fixed December 7 for hearing. In an affidavit in support deposed to by Sammie Somiari, a lawyer, he averred that on March 22, 2010, she (Jonathan) had opened five different accounts with Skye Bank with the assistance of one Damola Bolodeoku and Dipo Oshodi. He averred that the account mandate forms were duly completed and signed by her. According to him, Mrs. Jonathan subsequently discovered that apart from one of the accounts that bore her name, the other four accounts were opened in the name of four companies which were companies belonging to Dudafa. He said she also observed that the ATM cards of the said accounts were issued in the names of the companies, adding that she complained to Dudafa, who promised to effect the necessary changes. He said Dipo Oshodi also promised to effect the necessary changes. Mr. Somiari averred that Mrs. Jonathan is not a director, shareholder or participant in these companies and the funds in the said accounts were solely owned and operated by her. “Dudafa does not own any part of the funds in the said accounts.” According to the deponent, the Skye Bank official (Mr. Oshodi) did not effect the instructions of the plaintiff to change the name of the said accounts to her name, in spite of repeated request. He stated that notwithstanding the refusal of the bank to effect the necessary changes, she had been using the said ATM cards without any interference. The deponent averred that sometime in July, Mrs. Jonathan discovered that the ATM cards were not functioning, and immediately contacted the bank, who informed her that a “No debit/freezing order” had been placed on the accounts. “On further enquiry, the bank informed her that the accounts were frozen on the directive of EFCC as a result of ongoing investigation in relation to Mr. Dudafa.” Jonathan, therefore, contended that she was never arrested or invited by the EFCC prior to the freezing order placed on the accounts. She further contends that the freezing order on her funds on the directive of EFCC without an order of the court is unlawful and illegal. Consequently, Mrs. Jonathan is seeking an order of court, directing the unfreezing of her account forthwith and also wants an order restraining the EFCC from taking further steps in relation to the said account pending the determination of the suit. Why Buhari Is Yet To Present 2017 Budget To National Assembly – presidency

THE Presidency on Friday disclosed that the 2017 Budget will not be presented to the National Assembly until the conclusion and approval of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework/‎Fiscal Strategy Paper by the legislature. President Muhammadu Buhari had a fortnight ago submitted the 2017-2019 MTEF/FSP to the National Assembly for consideration and approval. At an an interactive session with journalists on Friday, the Senior ‎Special Assistant on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, promised that government agencies are already working toward the 2017 Budget proposal. Enang said: “‎I want to assure you that, first, the budget implementation for 2016 is going on very well and everything. “It is going on as expected and appropriated. “The Expenditure and Fiscal Strategy Paper, Mr. President has submitted that to the National Assembly – Senate and House of Representatives – and they are considering it. “It is what is approved by the National Assembly and the parameters such as the exchange rate, oil price benchmark, volume of the budget, borrowing plan and other parameters that are contained therein that may be approved or as may he approved by the National Assembly that will be used in concluding the budget estimates. “I want to assure you that on the part of the Executive, the budget will be concluded and presented such that the budget will be considered and approved, working with every person, within the year, such that the implementation can start by 1st of January, 2017. “That is the expectation of the Executive and that is what Mr. President, the Vice President and the honorable ministers are working towards. “Therefore, I want us to relax and be a‎ssured that all will be done within the time. “Definitely, we are working together with the legislature on getting MTEF and FSP passed that it will guide us in the conclusion of budget details.”

Kwankwasiyya movement give Gov. Ganduje 48 hours to either remove red cap or face legal action

The Kwankwasiyya Movement (Red Cap Revolution) have given Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, 48 hours to either remove the red cap he is wearing, which is a symbol of the movement or he will be dragged to court. Alhaji Sharu Garba Gwammaja stated this while addressing the crowd celebrating the 60th birthday of the founder of the movement, Senator Kwankwasos in Kano State. Alhaji Gwammaja said Ganduje has betrayed the organization and deserved to be disowned. "Earlier, we have offered the governor the sum of N1m to remove his cap and he failed to do so. Now we have given him 48 hours to either remove the red cap which is a symbol of Kwankwasiyya or else we will drag him to court. He deviated from the ideology of Kwanwasiyya and it is high time for him to stop wearing our symbol." “Ganduje is enjoying the sympathy of Kano people because of the red cap he is still wearing even though his actions are contrary to the ideology of the movement. So we want him to stop associating himself with the movement because he is not one of us." He added that the true meaning of Kwankwasiyya is selfless service to the public, free education for all, promotion of peace and unity as well as respect to the rule of law. "We appealed to the people of Kano to forgive us for presenting Ganduje to them as governor. We are regretting our action and God’s willing we will ratify it in the next general elections. We elected Buhari, but this individuals even uses the presidential jets, more than the person we willingly elected to exercise political power.
